AI overview
Frostbyte's three AI features, their typical credit use, and when to reach for them.
Frostbyte has three AI features. They share one monthly credit pool, with no separate usage bill and no surprise charges. Each action uses credits based on the model and the amount of text it processes. You see a typical cost before you run it, then your balance updates to the actual amount afterwards.
For pool sizes, reset cadence, and Stripe details, see Billing & credits.
The three actions
| Action | Typical credit use | When to use it |
|---|---|---|
| Frostbyte agent | varies per message | Chat with an in-app agent that reads your project and proposes areas, releases, tasks, and edits for you to approve. |
| Release notes generator | ~2 credits | Turn a completed release into shareable markdown notes. |
| Convert feedback to task | ~1 credit | Turn a signal into clean, task-ready copy. |
These are estimates, not fixed prices. A short job may use less; a larger prompt or response may use more. Output-heavy jobs and more capable models use credits faster.
If a request fails before the model processes anything, it uses no credits. If the model produces a response but Frostbyte can't use it, the processed usage may still count, because the AI work already happened.
What's NOT credit-gated
These never consume AI credits, on any tier:
- MCP server: no LLM runs on Frostbyte's side. MCP is plain database access.
- Plugin: installing the Frostbyte plugin in Claude Code or Codex costs nothing.
- All non-AI features: Feedback Portal, GitHub integration, PDF export, CSV, and so on.
AI credits gate actions that actually invoke an LLM in our infrastructure. Tools that only read or write your own data don't use inference and shouldn't cost anything.
Hitting the limit
Before starting an AI action, Frostbyte checks that the project owner's pool still has credits. When the pool is empty, the action doesn't start and you see an upgrade prompt instead. Upgrading or waiting for the cycle reset both unblock you.
This applies on Free too. Free users can use every AI feature; they just have a smaller pool. Ten credits covers a handful of agent messages or a couple of release-notes drafts, though actual usage varies by job.
